Pretty happy

To change this place was not something I found easy. I can be a homebody to a devoted degree, and had little inclination to renovate a space I considered a home into something altogether unfamiliar.
But then an external push came that necessitated a move, and in that not-so-gentle nudge I found the inspiration to move the furniture around, to find a new perspective for this room. It has been almost five years.
Yes, five whole years come May 1, 2010. Today is the 1,115th day, if my math is correct (it probably isn't).
And so, here it is.
I baked this cake this weekend, to celebrate some birthdays. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, and I think I'm pretty happy with how this all has turned out as well.
I hope you like it here, too. Thank you for stopping by.

It seems some readers are picking up new posts, and others aren't. If you'd like to try to subscribe anew, there is a link just there on the left sidebar. My apologies for any trouble!
And one more thing, since it's too much of a looker not to mention, the cake plate above is from Herriott Grace.

Well, I haven't been with you from the beginning, but happy to be with you now! Celebrations!
Looks perfect! And that cake!! Can you come make my birthday cake?! And is okay if I lie and say my birthday was not just last month?
Congrats on 5 years Tara! I remember your site being one of my very first reads and your SHF "Shades of White" one the first blog events I participated in...boy time flies, doesn't it?!!
Congrats ont eh move! Love the font of each category in the side bar. Well done!
Congrats Tara! Such an accomplishment! Do you plan on sharing your cake recipe? That looks insane!
Also, is that cake 'plate' from Herriott-Grace? Love them!
Happy birthday, Seven Spoons! I like your spiffy new site. Going to update my Reader now!
that cake looks soooo beautiful! It looks like it is scalloped! but, side ways! So perfectly scalloped too! Have you ever done where the scallops face downwards, like ones on a dress? Or a fish!
I love chocolate cake.
your new space looks beautiful!
I was wondering what happened to your posts -- I hadn't seen from you in my reader in a while! The decorating job you did on that cake looks fantastic -- care to share how you did it? (My cakes never look as good :-)
I just found you recently and I'm totally addicted. Your blog is so well written and the recipes are just gorgeous every single time. Happy 5 yrs. I hope there are many, many more.

Aha, another refugee from Blogger FTP? I did my conversion over the weekend. Still waiting on an answer re FeedBurner but (for the next time, when you do this) it really does help to consolidate all feeds onto FeedBurner, then readers will carry on without having to do anything ...
almost five years tara! congratulations! i can't think of a better way to celebrate than with this *gorgeous* cake. the buttercream is so smooth and silky. just beautiful!
i cannot believe what a gorgeous cake that is! wow!
Congratulations Tara! I enjoy your blog immensely, although I don't comment quite as often. Your cinnamon mud cake has become a household favourite! I love how you've iced the cake! Never seen something quite like it before. Tips? :)
Congrats to you! It is a bit of an earth-shattering decision to move, and yes, laced with more unfamiliarity that I'd like, but so much better in the long run. The cake looks fabulous. I can't wait to have an excuse to make a cake just to try that effect :)
Congrats on the move! It looks great. :)
Love the icing design around the cake.
gorgeous!!
Gah, five years, already? I remember stumbling over a glorious tale of eggplant here before, I think, your first was born. I think there are two, now (if my math is correct), and many more wonderful meals I've enjoyed along the way. So a great big happy, to all the birthdays that have come and gone, since. And I, for one, look forward to many more, in their smart new birthday suit.
Five years is amazing Tara. And I cannot get over this cake. I can only imagine it tastes as good as it looks; that icing is too pretty!
Hi Tara - your site is amazing - what beautiful pictures of scrumptious food. My friend the Goose and I are trolling through while we wait for the spanakopita to bake and it is killing us. Fine work!
